Birth to Three Developmental Center is a private nonprofit child development program, serving children up to three years. The center nurtures infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities and provides early intervention services for children and families. Most of the infants and toddlers served by the center qualify for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. These children have at least a 25 percent delay in one or more developmental areas, such as cognitive, physical, communication, social or emotional and adaptive skills. The center employs skilled special education teachers, occupational, physical and speech therapists and family resources coordinators. Its teachers and therapists are licensed and certified by the state of Washington. The center's funding is obtained through Federal Way School District, King County Developmental Disabilities, United Way of King County, City of Federal Way, Pierce County Human Services, Medicaid, community partnerships, foundations and donations from community service organizations.
