Ramer Center Special Education

Myersville Elementary School, founded in 1971, enrolls more than 450 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as art, technology education, math, music, reading, physical education, science and social studies. It offers special education, Title I, English Language Learners, accelerated reader, and free- and reduced-price meals programs. The school has a partnership with Chesapeake Bay Foundation and is involved in ecological awareness and environmental improvement projects. Its parent-teacher association organizes a range of fundraising events. Established in 1975 as the Evaluation and Services Center, Northwestern Regional Educational Programs (NREP) provides a range of educational and therapeutic services to children with special needs. It offers a variety of services, including transportation, vision and individual counseling, as well as speech, occupational, physical and music therapies. Northwestern Regional Educational Programs also offers services to individuals between the ages of 2 and 21 with severe disabilities. In addition, it provides a range of services for emotionally disturbed and preschool children. The program is operated by Frederick County Public Schools, which maintains various elementary, middle and high schools. Northwestern Regional Educational Programs maintains a presence in Winchester, Va.
