Incorporated in 1868, the City of Green River in Wyoming has a population of more than 13,000 people. The city governs a public works department that includes over five divisions. The department also operates a communication center that responds to police, fire, and medical emergency and nonemergency calls for service. In addition, the Green River Police Department has animal control, investigation, nuisance enforcement and patrol divisions. It provides emergency management and bicycle registration services. The department administers Crime Stoppers and National Night Out programs. The Green River Police Department also supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, which helps children avoid involvement with drugs, gangs and violence.
