Tom Cobley Tavern

The Tom Cobley Tavern is a traditional public house nestled in the quiet pretty country village of Spreyton which has a population of approximately 300 people, a primary school, a community shop and a beautiful church dating from the 14th century. Tom Cobley, celebrated in the folk song describing his fateful journey to Widecombe Fayre, was a considerable landowner in the parish and is believed to be buried in the churchyard. The Tavern has a traditional bar with open fire and a snug area where a host of real ales and ciders are served. There is an attractive dining room and an adjoining dining area, which opens onto a beautiful garden with country views. Traditional home cooked food using as much local produce as possible is served from the regular menu and a Traditional Sunday Roast is served on Sunday's. We welcome well behaved dogs throughout our establishment. The Tavern also provides accommodation with 6 modern en-suite rooms with fantastic views over Dartmoor. Upstairs on the first floor there are three bedrooms, Room 1 comprises of a double bed and single bed with a private shower room and a separate WC, Room 2 comprises of a double bed with an en-suite shower room and Room 3 comprises of a double bed with an en-suite shower room. On the second floor there are a further three bedrooms, Room 5 comprises of a double and single bed with an en-suite bathroom with an overhead shower and a separate WC, Room 6 comprises of a double bed and has its own private bathroom with an overhead shower and a separate WC and Room 7 comprises of a double and single bed with an en-suite bathroom with shower overhead.
