Since the creation of the Floating Harbour in 1809, Underfall Yard has been crucial to its operation and maintenance. The yard is named after “the Underfalls”, the sluices used to control the water level and remove silt (mud) from the Floating Harbour. Underfall Yard is a working boatyard that welcomes visitors. The Visitor Centre and Café are open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am.
