Following the traditions of the renowned fencing academies that thrived in Edinburgh until the late 1800s, it aims to replicate martial arts forms prevalent in Western Europe since the 13th century. Students at the Macdonald Academy have the opportunity to gain proficiency in various weapon forms, including backsword, longsword, smallsword, rapier, Italian and Spanish quarterstaff, and Italian cane.
