Dr Bivins has always had a passion for science. Practicing medicine was a way for him to pursue his love of science and directly apply that knowledge to helping people. During his internal medicine residency in Kalamazoo, he spent a rotation at the West Michigan Cancer Center – spiking his interest in the medical oncology field. “This is an extremely interesting area of medicine. New treatments are constantly becoming available.” Dr Bivins specializes in treating patients with solid tumors, like brain cancer, lung cancer and GI cancers. However, as a medical oncologist and hematologist, he works with patients with all types of cancers and blood disorders. Dr Bivins and his wife are both West Michigan natives.

For Megan, midwifery is her calling. She became a midwife to educate and empower women to take control of their well-being. Supporting women through all of life’s transitions is a fulfilling, humbling and fun job for her. She gets excited to go to work each day as she thinks about the women she will meet and the relationships she will build. Megan is particularly interested in promoting physiologic birth—which tends to be both safer and healthier—and is passionate about working to reduce disparities in maternity care. She speaks Spanish and is committed to improving migrant farmworker health.
