As a kid, I liked science. I wanted to know how everything worked. I volunteered at a hospital when I was in high school. I liked that medicine combines science and service, and that it forces you to be a lifelong learner. Many patients are frustrated because nothing's worked so far. Some have had negative experiences with the system. It's rewarding when they begin meeting their goals, like keeping up with their child on walks. Sometimes they don't know how bad they really felt until they lose weight and start feeling better. It's an exciting time in obesity medicine. We have highly effective medicines now and more being trialed. Many people have hope for the first time. We'll provide a comprehensive, individualized plan that considers all the facets - nutrition, activity, sleep, behavior, other medical conditions and medicines that could affect your weight - and we'll work with you to create a sustainable plan for better health and quality of life.

A good day at work is leaving with the knowledge that I was there to take care of my patients the best I can. I was there to comfort them and help them to make the best medical decisions. I love helping people and knowing I?ve done that; it makes me happy.
