Lewis & Clark Rural Water System is a trailblazing organization dedicated to constructing and operating a groundbreaking tristate drinking water system that will serve approximately 350,000 people in southeast South Dakota, northwest Iowa, and southwest Minnesota. With a project timeline spanning decades, the system is nearing completion and is expected to provide a base capacity of 44.19 million gallons per day by 2026.

Since its incorporation in 1990 and authorization by Congress in 2000, Lewis & Clark Regional Water System has overcome numerous challenges to bring this vital infrastructure to fruition. With an estimated total cost of $700 million, the project has made significant progress, with 17 out of the 20 members already connected.
